The Supervisory Librarian is delegated full responsibility for the administration management and operation of the Medical Library. The incumbent uses knowledge of the theories, concepts, and practices by which information is classified licensed and accessed, including electronic bibliographic and full-text databases and networks. The librarian continuously monitors and evaluates the quality of library services, initiates non-recurring request for personnel and program funding; researches and develops projects concerned with improvement of library programs. The library program covers knowledge-based information resources and services necessary to support the varied teaching disciplines and special programs active at the Orlando VA Healthcare System, including medical and clinical research, teaching, and patient education. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, or 8:00am to 4:30pm. Position Description Title/PD#: Supervisory Librarian / 675-06073-0 Physical Requirements: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, stooping, and reaching in card catalogs, shelf lists, and stack areas, lifting of moderately heavy (up to fifty (50lbs) pound items such as boxes and stacks of books indexes, and audiovisual programs and equipment and working in extremely narrow (two (2) foot wide) stack areas. The selectee may be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando. The selectee may also be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis, based on patient care needs.
