Hi, Rebekah, and All,

We have to remember that LOC sponsors some visits and that JR's publisher will sponsor others touting not only his current book but also his status as the Ambassador.

When we hear of these visits, I think our best course is to try to attend, if possible, introduce ourselves, and make that connex.  When JR decides on his particular outreach priorities, perhaps he will say "Hey, let's work with that great person in Texas I met when I was in Austin," or let's work with ... fill in your name.

Cheers, S

Team,

Facebook just let me know that our National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, Jason Reynolds, is coming to Texas (specifically to our amazing bookstore in Austin, BookPeople). I’m very happy for Austin.

For potential collaboration or just to welcome them, I must admit that I thought the Center for the Book director in the state might be made aware if the National Ambassador is visiting their state. Did I just pull this out of the sky? Has this been done before? At this point, I don’t think we can plan an event, however, for the future is this valid? As the “Library of Congress in our community” is this heads up something we can hope for? Aim for? If we are wanting to tie our partnership with the LOC and keep it strong, I feel like this sort of connection could be valuable.

Thank you for your thoughts,

Rebekah
