I have experienced the same problem yesterday and today. I normally use Firefox, which has prevented me from accessing the site altogether.

I have switched to Chrome -- it gives me a warning, but allows me to advance to the site at my own risk.

I just sent an email to the contact email address at Geonames, [log in to unmask] -- I will let people know if I receive a response.

Hi Wayne et al.,

Yes, I’m getting the security warning for GNS in Chrome today, also.

Subject: [PCCLIST] GeoNET Names Server hacked?

Dear All,

Today when I tried to access the GEOnet Names Server all I got was a “Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead” and neither Chrome nor Firefox would let me in. Has anyone else encountered this. I use this site frequently for authority work and have never had any problems before today.

Thanks for any help.
