Great Read Discussion

Here are examples of short video that were created by the Children's Book Council to celebrate the 100 Anniversary of Children's Book Week.

Take a look at the site which is called Creators Corner.  It features 100 authors/illustrators talking about their books in celebration of the 100 Anniversary of CBW.

Take particular notice of the On Location Episodes. For example Laura Vacarro, which was not recorded in the studio.  Rather she recorded it on her phone.

Please note that the opening and closing is the same for each episode.

Logistically, The Library of Congress cannot coordinate such a project.

However, KidLit.TV is open to doing the same thing for our Great Reads if some of the states are interested.   I know that you have questions and I will try to answer some of them.

  • How does the author/illustrator of Center for the Book staff do this at home.
KidLit.TV will send a detail instruction sheet to them They are given an outline of a script to follow.
They video file is dropbox to KidLit.TV who does the edited version.

  • What if you don't have access to the author/illustrator?
A person from the center for the book can talk about the book.

I will be happy to answer questions at tomorrows meeting or in advance as part of this email.

Talk with many of you tomorrow.
