Von: "Rosalinda G. Rowe" <[log in to unmask]> > ...Too often we give dudes who might provide a service > related to the work we do a platform as if they were the expert scholar on > constitutional law, or critial race, queer, and gender theory. They are > not... If one needs to be an expert on these topics to be a member of ARSC, I'm in the wrong group. In fact, I don't even provide a service to the cloistered denizens of academe. I fear I may also be a "dude," so I've got three strikes against me. :-) Ms. Rowe certainly didn't intend it, but this comes across as terribly elitist and uninviting to others not of her profession. And we are talking here about making the ARSC a more inviting institution, are we not? As Dr Biel pointed out, ARSC covers a broad base of membership. Let's all strive to keep it that way.
