Good morning everyone!

I hope you all are doing well! I wanted to check in and make sure I have
not missed the emails from the Decibel team and if there are any updates on
the date by which we need to upload our videos to the website? Any
information that I can share with our author and illustrator will be
greatly appreciated as we are currently working on putting everything
together for the festival.

Sincerely,

Melissa Giblin

Good morning team,

The email that we recently got from Decibel does not answer Nancy’s
questions below. I’m mostly concerned about this question: Does that mean
we will "staff" our virtual booth? If so, when are the specific days/times
(during September 25-27th, when the virtual fest is happening) we are
expected to be in the virtual booth?

I did reply back to Decibel with that question and am waiting to hear, but
if Guy can clarify, that would be great.

i'm a bit unclear about what these Booths will require, and I do
understand we'll get more information from Decibel, but I have a couple of
questions:

1. I've been to "virtual exhibits" before, both during this current corona
period and just at SLJ events, etc. so is that what we're going to be
setting up here? Does that mean we will "staff" our virtual booth? If so,
when are the specific days/times (during September 25-27th, when the
virtual fest is happening) we are expected to be in the virtual booth?

2. Do they want us to promote these virtual exhibits and virtual events to
our librarians and their communities? If so, we will be provided with
details about the Festival and the exhibits, like generic press releases or
even basic access instructions?

thanks,

Nancy

Dear Affiliate Centers,

I want to thank you for your willingness to join us on this new path we are
taking for the National Book Festival. I know information has been somewhat
scant but I also know that you understand we are learning as we go along.

I have some news, not all of it good. Hard as I tried (and hard as our
Development Office tried), we were unable to secure funding that would have
come to you to support your NBF projects. Some of you have already created
wonderful videos, and some of you will not be able to for lack of funding.
This also means that there is no funding to ship you the C-SPAN bags I had
hoped to provide.

The good news is that you will be hearing soon from our NBF contractor,
Decibel, regarding the assets you will be able to present in your virtual
“booth,” and what the deadlines are. This Welcome email will come early
next week, followed by an Introductory mid-week email with details. You
have all worked with Decibel before, as they are longtime (great) NBF
contractors.

These are some things you may want to think about making available in your
booth (in addition to your Great Reads selection and book jacket):

--Videos (of your Great Reads author, of the work of your center, of an
event you held, or all of these, or something I haven’t mentioned you want
to share)

--Brochures and other info sheets you are able to provide digitally

--An overview of your center, its mission and its activities

The folks at Decibel will explain the capabilities of the NBF “platform”
they are creating.

I am working with our NBF designer on getting the generic Affiliate logo
personalized for each center.

Decibel is working on some sort of badging activity that will try to
emulate going from center table to center table, as is done at the
convention center.

Thank you again for your longtime support of the NBF and your support of
this new-style festival. I hope it will be a rewarding experience and keep
you in touch with those you so ably serve.

Guy
