Hi there,

I am in the process of writing a book on the career of former ABBA singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad (www.fridabeyondabba.com) and I am trying to locate audio or video elements of the 1973 "III Festival Mundial de Onda Nueva" for research.

"III Festival de Onda Nueva" was held in Caracas, Venezuela on February 14th, 16th and 17th, 1973 and what I'm looking for specifically are recordings of the two Swedish entries of the Festival, being Lena Andersson with the song 'Love Is Always Young' and Anni-Frid Lyngstad with the song 'Feel', so that they could be described for my forthcoming book on the latter. Both songs were performed during the preliminary rounds of the festival (most probably February 14th, 1973), but were not qualified for the semi-final. The broadcast would have to have been in February 1973. They were broadcast on Venezuelan television (Venevisin) and perhaps in the US as well.

My inquiry is based on the following quote from Billboard Magazine;

"The three night of the festival were telecast live by Venevisin throughout Venezuela and carried on radio to 216 cities throughout South America as well as worldwide over U.S. Armed Forces radio andVoice Of America. Worldwide Tv syndication is being negotiated. Shortened tapes of each nights show were re-broadcast during the day and evening several times apiece. A 3 1/2-hour TV show with an international panel of critics and disk jockeys commented on video playbacks of every one of the 22 songs entered. This reporter was U.S. representative on the panel." (Nat Freedland for Billboard Magazine, 03-03-1973)

It therefore seems plausible to me that some of these recordings could be stored somewhere, either as part of a live broadcast on TV or radio or as part of a program on the festival (the mentioned shortened tapes or 3 1/2 hour TV-show).

Your help would be much appreciated.

All the best
