The Ralph J. Bunche Library at the U.S. Department of State has just posted a vacancy announcement for a Reference Librarian to join our team.  The position is being recruited at the GS 9/11, with promotion potential to GS 12.

 

This position is on the Library's Reference team and the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with challenging research questions from Bureaus and overseas posts throughout the Department, participating in the Library�s instructional program, contributing to the development of the Library�s collection of both online and print resources, and marketing the library�s programs and services to Department Bureaus and overseas posts.

About the Ralph J. Bunche Library:  Founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1789 by Thomas Jefferson, the Library has the distinction of being the oldest federal library and is currently in its 231st year of continuous service to the men and women of the Department of State.  In 1997, it was dedicated to diplomat and Nobel Prize Winner Ralph J. Bunche.  Its extensive collection includes a number of historic documents and chronicles the history of the Department and U.S. international relations.  The Library currently serves the 70,000 employees of the State Department serving throughout the United States and in hundreds of U.S. diplomatic missions in every part of the world.
