Please join the Core Metadata Interest Group during the Core Interest Group Virtual Week for a presentation on working on metadata from home on Tuesday, February 2nd from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. CST

This past year has presented unique challenges in terms of work environment. Being able to work on metadata projects from home has become increasingly important. At the same time, we still need to ensure the accessibility of materials. In this session, Emily Vinson, Audiovisual Archivist and Andrew Weidner, Digitization Operations Coordinator at University of Houston Libraries at the University of Houston Libraries will present on their experience managing an at home metadata project involving student workers aimed at increasing collection accessibility.

Metadata Works From Home: How Student Workers Continued to Work While Increasing Collection Accessibility

Faced with campus closures, a University of Houston Libraries team developed plans to engage student employees in creating closed captions for hundreds of archival videos on the Libraries’ Audio/Video Repository. Panelists will describe the project and address unique challenges related to transcribing archival content, including dated and offensive content.

This session is free, but requires registration. To register for our session please use the following link:
