The Library of Congress State Literacy Awards Program recognizes organizations or programs that have made outstanding contributions to promoting literacy and/or reading in a state or local community.  The Professional Learning and Outreach Initiatives Office, a division of the Center for Learning, Literacy and Engagement at the Library of Congress, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 State Literacy Awards. Winning nominees and the organizations that nominated them are as follows:

 

·       Raising a Reader Massachusetts, Boston, nominated by the Massachusetts Center for the Book, Concord

·       Northeast Regional Library System, Corinth, nominated by the Mississippi Center for the Book, Jackson

·       Montana State University - Billings Writing Center Young Poets Program, Billings, nominated by the Montana Center for the Book, Missoula

·       School One, Providence, nominated by the Rhode Island Center for the Book, Newport

·       Page Ahead, Seattle, nominated by the Washington Center for the Book, Seattle

·       Latino Academy of Workforce Development (LAWD), Madison, nominated by the Wisconsin Center for the Book, Milwaukee

·       Everyone Has a Story, a project of Collaborative Connections, Inc., Cheyenne, nominated by the Wyoming Center for the Book, Cheyenne

The awards are in the amount of $2,225 each with up to ten percent going to the nominating organization. The Library of Congress State Literacy Awards Program is made possible through the generous support of David M. Rubenstein.
