The CORE Bibliographical Conceptual Models IG (BCMIG) invites you to register for its session during the 2021 Virtual Interest Group Week.
Date: February 1, 2021
Time: 2-3 pm (CST)
To register for the BCMIG session, please do so here: https://ala-events.zoom.us/
BCMIG provides a forum for the discussion of conceptual models, such as IFLA-LRM and BIBFRAME 2.0, that serve as the basis for current cataloging standards or are expected to provide
a foundation for future cataloging standards in a Linked Open Data environment.
For 2021 Midwinter Core Interest Group Week, BCMIG is pleased to offer a presentation that covers a number of important themes, ranging from the implementation of conceptual models in a Linked Data editor to the relationship between different conceptual
models used in cataloging today, and so raises issues of both theory and practice:
Title: Using RDA in Sinopia

Abstract:
As a cohort institution in the LD4P2: Pathway to Implementation project, staff members in the University of Washington Libraries Cataloging and Metadata Services unit created bibliographic descriptions in the Sinopia Linked Data Editor. The project team selected entities and properties from the Resource Description and Access (RDA) data model when designing the templates required for use of the Editor. Team members will discuss their motivations for implementing RDA in Sinopia, what the implementation process was like, challenges in converting the resulting RDA data to BIBFRAME, and prospects for interoperability between these two models.
