Thanks, Dennis. Now that I'm close to my WERM, yes, there was a Soviet recording with Golovanov and the USSR Radio Orchestra. According to WERM, it contained Nos. 1, 5, 8 & 9, and was spread over 6 78-rpm sides, USSR (CCCP) 12502-3, 12802-5. There was also a single 78-rpm disc of Nos. 1, 3 & 5 with Nikolai Malko and the Philharmonia Orch on HMV, GC 3572, and another single of No. 1 only with Victor Olof and the Kingsway Symphony (Decca pickup band, probably the London Phil), British Decca DG 8922.

There's an arrangement for piano and orchestra of Nos. 1 & 5 on a 78 single with Oscar Levant and the Columbia Concert Orch conducted by Lou Bring, Col. 17521, rec in Hollywood in 1947 and included in the Sony Levant set. WERM does not credit the conductor.

WERM, of course, does not give recording dates.

Best,
Gary

Check WERM for any USSR recording of GAYNEH. Rodzinski and Kurz made first recordings of the Suite, although not until after the Petrillo Ban of 1942-44.
