The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) Library Service is hiring for a full-time GS 9/11 medical librarian to support the information needs of the health system.

Responsibilities
As a Librarian (Medical), GS-1410-09/11, you will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  *   Working broadly with information and with organizational staff, crossing boundaries of disciplines and departments.
  *   Developing authoritative collections, predominantly electronic, specifically targeted to the information needs of NF/SG-VHS staff so that information needs can be met quickly and cost-effectively.
  *   Serves as information experts, linking NF/SG VHS staff to knowledge based information that informs decision-making, contributes to excellence in education, improves patient care, reduces length of stays, and improves the quality of care and life for Veterans, and encourages research and innovation.
  *   Works with physicians, nurses and other staff in clinical settings and in routine clinical conferences, such as Morning Report and huddles, to provide patient-specific information.
  *   Functions as a resource to clinicians by searching medical databases to identify and retrieve knowledge-based information to resolve questions and controversies in diagnosis and treatment, clarify clinical decisions, decide upon the best course of care, and elucidate rare medical conditions.
  *   Assists and supports the development of effective user aids and training: (Libguides, one on one, small group, webinars, embedded podcasts, tutorials, screenshots, etc.)
  *   Serves as the expert in searching highly specialized biomedical, nursing and allied health and health management and business, databases and the Internet.

  *   Library Service is expanding here in space and staff.
  *   NFSGVHS Library Service consists of one library in Gainesville, FL and another in Lake City, FL.
  *   Library #3 will be in the new Jacksonville, FL  outpatient clinic (OPC) in 2023.
  *   All library positions are stable if you are worried about job security.  In the past year, we've hired 1 Library Technician and 1 Pathways Intern (Student/Trainee).  We will have 2 more Pathways Interns join us before May 2021. Before end of 2021, we hope to hire an Emerging Technologies, Program Analyst to support the VA Mobile Health Programs.
  *   We have projects with Office of Rural Health, National Center for PTSD, Office of Connected Care, VA Mobile Health Provider Program, and VA Mobile Health Programs.
  *   In the past year, we've received 3 Innovation Awards and one Florida Humanities Award.
  *   We're seeking a librarian who is proactive, a team player, and enjoys interacting with clinicians at an integrated health system.
