That is how I remember it as well, Sharon. The Discover Great Places Through Reading on the ilreads.gov webpage was going to be changed to Great Reads FROM Great Places.

The whole idea behind this was that it would allow for Guy’s/LOC’s preference that state affiliate booths on the Roadmap to Reading highlight “ … a book for young people and that it be connected to your state, either through its setting or theme or author or all three. It should reflect your state’s literary heritage, however you may define it.”

Jumping in here to say I thought we agreed last year to begin calling this initiative "Great Reads from Great Places" (and ideally the website subcommittee will ensure that we get that renaming on the website?).

If we have to select a book that is "about" we are constrained in subject annually.  I don't like selecting a book that doesn't deliver on the title ... and so might want to go to the mat for "from"

Correct. so WHICH tagline is it? Do I need a book ABOUT Georgia, or just BY a Georgian?

That is not the theme of the NBF. That is just a tagline we have used for years for the Great Reads.

The NBF theme is Open a Book, Open the World.

I just happened to be checking the Great Reads page earlier today and it has

“Discover Great Places Through Reading”

http://read.gov/greatreads/index.html

I don’t know if this helps or complicates.

Did we clarily the Great Reads FROM Great Places, or Great Reads ABOUT Great Places? And does the book's content need to be about our state, or just the author/illustrator?

Yes, we are having an Idea Exchange. We talked about May 26-27, didn’t we? Two hours each day.

Would someone like to set up a doodle poll for this? I think we also batted around May 19-20.

Thanks,

Guy
