Hi Everyone - Please join us via webinar for our next free Department of the Interior Library Park Ranger Speaker Series lecture, entitled "Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument Virtual Tour" on Tuesday, April 20th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm ET. Home to the National Woman's Party (NWP) for more than 90 years, the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument was the epicenter of the struggle for women's rights. From this house in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court, Alice Paul and the NWP developed innovative strategies and tactics to advocate for the Equal Rights Amendment and equality for women. Using photographs, textiles, artwork, and other items in the collection, Park Ranger Susan Philpot will explore the story of the NWP’s transgressive, confrontational tactics in support of woman suffrage. This virtual tour concentrates on Ms. Paul and her political strategies to fight for the passage and ratification of the 19th Amendment. Obtaining the right to vote marked only the beginning of the ongoing struggle for women's social, political, and economic equality. All that are interested are invited.
