All-I look forward to our meeting tomorrow. We will discuss:

1. The Great Reads themes. Please have a look at the list here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v9JWzrXgWjo-1wYs-7jEhC3L1JO7o4NSuMY10WC_65U/edit#heading=h.hbulv635bpjf

2. The 10 Great Reads conversations. I now have information on how we will do these.

                                                               i. They will be ZOOM conversations that we record and make available online. Duration is about 45 minutes.

ii. I am trying to see if I can get these captioned. If yes, then the links can be made directly from loc.gov/bookfest. If not, then we will link to your websites and the conversations will be available there. The Library cannot provide videos directly that are not accessible. One center for each video will be the "host" for the video-that is, where the video "lives."

iii. I need you to be the organizers of these discussions. In other words, the center directors will contact the authors and work together to determine a time for the conversation. I am happy to assist with these; to help with possible interview questions, to draft boilerplate intro language, etc. And, as we said, one question would relate to the festival theme: Open a Book, Open the World. How have a have books opened the world to you?" (for example)

iv. Among yourselves, you can determine how you want the interviews/conversations to run. Would each of you like to ask a question of your author; do you want to appoint a single interviewer?

3. The Great Reads seals for books-I will let those on the panel speak for themselves; it may be that we table this for this year and use the time to decide on something for next year, when we are all in person. If nothing else, the book seller can be given a bunch of them to affix to the books they sell in the book sales area. If you feel strongly that we should make a decision this year, I am willing to continue with this discussion.

4. Your proposed NBF events-I want to be certain they are all reflected on the spreadsheet. I know there have been some issues with these. I have heard from some of you. Please check the spreadsheet I sent out earlier this week to make certain what you sent is accurately reflected.

As always, thanks for all you do.
