Hi Everyone -

I just wanted to send an e-mail to invite you and your staffs to participate via webinar in a free Department of the Interior Library Training Session entitled "Public Records Research on Westlaw" on Tuesday, October 12th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET, part of our series of free training sessions available from the DOI Library.

Public records research can be a daunting task, but it can also be interesting and enlightening. The term "public records" implies the information you are researching is public, and available for anyone to review. While this may be true to a certain extent, it is important to remember that "Public" does not necessarily mean these records are readily accessible. The objective of this Westlaw Public Records Seminar is to teach researchers and attorneys the available resources and search techniques to help them locate people and businesses, identify and assess risk, understand critical connections and how to gather information on clients, experts, companies, assets, liens and other filings that relate to civil and criminal actions. During this class a Westlaw trainer will show you how to research individuals using People Map and research companies using Company Investigator.

All that are interested are invited.  Please go to the following link to request webinar registration information:

Please note that Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits for Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin will be available for DOI Solicitor's Office attorneys attending this program.

You may contact the Library by e-mail at library@ios.doi.gov for more information about this program or if you have trouble reaching us using the link above.  For more information about the DOI Library, its resources, and its services, please visit our website at http://www.doi.gov/library.
