*LAC Group *is seeking a* Reference Librarian* to work at a major Federal
library in the Washington, D.C. area. The Reference Librarian will be
responsible for supporting reference and research support services
including literature reviews, responding to reference requests, and
preparing bibliographies and subject guides. The majority of the reference
services will be virtual through Ask-A-Librarian and will utilize
agency-specific publications and data products focused on transportation.
The Librarians will also provide training on research methodologies and the
use of specialized research databases.

*Responsibilities:*

   - Provide reference and research services to agency staff, research
   professionals and the general public
   - Utilize general and specialized reference resources including public
   and private online computer databases
   - Respond to comprehensive reference questions calling for subject and
   bibliographic competence, including the evaluation of timeliness,
   relevance, and authoritativeness
   - Provide assistance and train customers in the utilization of end-user
   products and a variety of research and reference electronic and print
   materials.
   - Prepare bibliographies, written instructions, fact sheets, and
   training aids for end-user use and education
   - Plan and conduct library orientation programs and briefings
   - Provide interlibrary loan services, maintain loan files, statistics,
   and documentation
   - Receive and prepare items for circulation, notifying requestors, and
   returning material on time
   - Support collection development efforts by suggesting new titles and
   resources


*Qualifications:*

   - 4+ years of experience providing reference services comparable to
   those described above
   - Knowledge and experience with developing and maintaining communities
   of practice and knowledge networks
   - Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science (MLS) from a university
   accredited by the American Library Association (ALA)
   - Candidates must be able to provide proof of full vaccination against
   COVID-19 by December 8, 2021, for consideration
