All—can we have our next meeting on Nov. 17 instead of the usual fourth Thursday, as that is the day before Thanksgiving?
I am setting this up as an onboarding/welcome meeting for the new centers that have just moved to their Humanities Councils (Missouri, Florida, Wyoming, Vermont) but the meeting is for all the Centers. I want to introduce you to some of
our programs (most of you know these, like the National Book Festival and Read Around the States), but also give an intro to some interesting areas of the Library.
Maybe a few of you from the longtime Humanities-based Centers could talk about your experiences existing within these organizations.
I am working on an agenda now and will be back in touch later.
I think your participation in this year’s National Book Festival was the most successful we have had to date, despite the fact that we were virtual. The recordings with the Great Reads authors fulfilled a wish I have always had: to engage
these authors with the festival in a meaningful way and give them an opportunity to discuss their work. I hope we can continue this practice when we return to the Convention Center in 2022. Maybe we can even have some of the authors come to the festival in
person?
Thanks for all you do and I look forward to our November meeting.
