The State of Subject Access” will be presented by Rocki Strader, an associate professor in the Bibliographic Initiatives Department of The Ohio State University Libraries. An overview of issues in subject access. Topics include: “Aboutness”; types of terminology; Resource Description and Access; ethics in cataloging (including the “Illegal aliens” controversy); and the ALCTS CaMMS (now Core) Subject Analysis Committee. Please bring questions and comments (and complaints!) for a conversation about the subject of subjects. “Ghost in the MARChine: Pseudonymity and Anonymity Usage in Electronica Music Sound Recordings” will be presented by Leonard "Leo" Martin, Resource Description Librarian for Unique Formats and Materials at University of Houston Libraries. This presentation will discuss trends in pseudonymity and anonymity usage by electronic music producers throughout the 2010s, constructing name authority records for various pseudonymous persons, and establishing musical genre/microgenre LCGFT terms for their respective sound recordings. “Underrepresented Collections in the Howard B. Waltz Music Library” will be presented by Linda Bagley, Music Cataloging Specialist, Clara Burns, Music Copy Cataloger, from University of Colorado Boulder; and Kelsey A. Fuller, Ph.D., Ethnomusicology. This presentation will discuss ways of improving subject headings for non-Western music materials, for ease of access and respectful representation Registration is now open for “It’s All Subjective: Modern Subject Analysis.” All are welcome; membership is conferred on all attendees.
