Hi Deborah, I would say that your library is a special library. I view academic libraries as part of universities. Haim Haim A. I work in an independent research library. We're not much different from a rare book or special collections unit within a university, only we don't have a university. Are we a 'special library'? Or an academic library? I usually select the latter because I think of special libraries as those attached to law firms, historical societies, and the like. Comments welcome. ______________________ Deborah J Leslie, M.A., M.L.S. | Senior Cataloger | Folger Shakespeare Library | 201 East Capitol Street, S.E. While preparing a recent presentation, I looked for a study of the demographics of catalogers but was unable to find one. So I decided to do my own. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey (it should take no more than five minutes) consisting of demographic questions and a few task-related questions. If the task-related questions do not apply to you, your response is still appreciated. Your responses are confidential, and you are free to quit at any time.
