I WILL KILL THE VIRUS MYSELF , IF IT TRIES TO STOP ANOTHER ANNUAL, ESPECIALLY IN DC.

I hope a lot of you can come!

In support of Suzanne's call for in-person gatherings, I wonder if anyone from our network intends to be at ALA in DC this June?    At present, I'm planning to attend and will opt out only if some wretched variant rears an ugly head.

If there were a contingent of us, we might organize a meet-up?

Regards,

ALA
 Annual Conference & Exhibition | June 23-28, 2022 | #ALAAC22 | ALAANNUAL.ORG
 | American Library Association

June 2019 was the last time we gathered in person for an ALA Conference, and it seems like a lifetime ago. When we attended that conference in Washington, D.C., no one could have imagined the challenges that a global pandemic would bring to our lives and to our libraries.

We’re excited to be returning to Washington, D.C., for our first in-person conference in three years, where some things will admittedly be different. There will be social distancing, vaccination, and mask requirements — all of which are necessary to keep us safe. There will also be joyful reunions, celebrations of the work we’ve accomplished during the pandemic, and lots of great opportunities to learn from each other.

Have a look at the education sessions in the Preliminary Scheduler. Here are a few that I'm especially looking forward to:

The Algorithm Stole My Democracy: Libraries Grappling with Misinformation in a Polarized Society

Branching Out: Pushing Our Libraries To More Deeply Connect with Communities of Color

Everyone is Welcome: Designing for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility in Library Buildings

Hidden Heroes: Social Justice Through Local History & Community Engagement

School Libraries and Diversity of LGBTQ+ Voice: A Study of Equity and Practice

Addressing Critical Race Theory Challenges in Your Library

I can’t wait until we are together again. I look forward to seeing you all.

If you’re thinking about registering, and I hope you are, now’s the time to do it. Prices will jump on March 31.

Sincerely,

Patricia
