All—I am sharing this exciting opportunity for teens with you. It comes from my colleague Naomi Coquillon, chief of Informal Learning at the Library. Please feel free to email her with your questions. I hope you know a teen or teens you think would be good for this program. [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> is Naomi’s email.

Please share this link with any teens you have worked with in programs who might like to connect with the Library and to other teens as well. Here’s the link and a program description:
https://www.loc.gov/item/internships/virtual-high-school-student-summer-intensive-volunteer-program/

This program, offered by Office of the Librarian/Informal Learning Office is designed for individuals interested in working with programming centered on primary sources and literature in a library setting. Participants are expected to have some experience and knowledge of contemporary literature for young adult audiences and strong research skills. This year’s program is currently offered in a hybrid format with students attending virtually and in-person.

This is an intensive 3-week unpaid summer internship opportunity, during which you will learn about the Library and help the Center for Learning, Literacy and Engagement develop and create teen-oriented content to support the 2022 National Book Festival<https://www.loc.gov/programs/national-book-festival/about-this-program/>.

Your deliverables will include: collaboratively contributing to the teen-oriented marketing for the National Book Festival, researching and recommending a set of LOC items that connect with this year’s featured Young Adult (YA) titles, and taking on significant roles in National Book Festival-related programming.

Your experiences will include: Learning about the careers and resources at the Library, building written and oral communications skills, and contributing to the development of teen initiatives and programming.

Application Period Open Now: Closes on May 20, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST.
Thanks,
Guy
