POSITION: Special Collections Librarian (new position). Arkansas
State University. Jonesboro, Arkansas.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Organization and management of the university's
special collections, rare books, and manuscript holdings (emphasizing
the Mississippi River Delta region), and providing reference and
instructional services in special collections. Will be very active
in planning and executing the move into the new special collections
floor of the Dean B. Ellis Library (summer 1997).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA accredited institution
with emphasis in archival management.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two or more years experience in special
collections, experience supervising others, the ability to teach an
introductory course in archival management, strong communication
skills, and the ability to function effectively in an electronic environment.
ENVIRONMENT: Undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees offered.
Student enrollment over 9,000. Collection of over one million volume
equivalents on five floors. Professional staff: 13. Support staff:
24. Campus located halfway between the Mississippi River and the
Ozark Mountains, approximately one hour from Memphis, Tennessee. 800
acre campus.
SALARY: $30 - 35,000, negotiable.
