     COORDINATOR, UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES Oklahoma State University is a land
     grant university with an enrollment of 26,000 students on four
     campuses offering 44 doctoral degree programs.  The Libraries, which
     contains more than 2.6 million volumes and documents, is a member of
     the Association of Research Libraries and the AMIGOS Bibliographic
     Council. Special Collections and University Archives is responsible
     for preserving and providing access to the library's rare and special
     books, including those on Oklahoma, manuscript and photograph
     collections, and permanent records of the university.  Major projects
     include promoting the university archives, developing a Women's
     Archives, and ensuring that collections are reflected in MARC records
     in the online catalog.  Personnel include two library faculty, one
     professional position, one support staff member, and 4-10 student
     assistants.

     RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote the preservation and retention of the
     University's permanent archival records and coordinate the University
     archives processes, including acquiring, selecting, organizing,
     preserving and providing access points for university records and
     publications housed in the archives.  Consult with staff in campus
     offices and state archives units regarding records retention and what
     should be kept permanently.  Maintain University-related reference
     files developed in the department, the collection of OSU publications
     kept in the Browsing Room, and the serial publications housed in the
     department.  Participate actively in carrying out departmental
     responsibilities, including providing reference service and user
     education and ensuring that materials in the department are secure and
     are managed so that they will last as long as possible.  Serve as
     public relations leader for University Archives functions.  Conduct
     outreach and creative activity to enhance public awareness of archival
     resources and OSU history.  Reports to the head of the department.

     QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Master's degree in history, archives,
     records or information management, or a related field that promotes
     information, organization, and access.  Three to four years related
     experience; excellent communication and public service skills; ability
     to organize and prioritize activities effectively; and an awareness of
     primary resources appropriate for historical research and for
     documenting the development of an organization or institution.
     Desired: Training substantive in archives.

     SALARY:  $1,869 to $2,103/monthly.  Salary dependent upon
     qualifications and experience.

     BENEFITS:  Social security; free health, accident and life insurance;
     retirement benefits available under state system and TIAA/CREF (some
     restrictions); 12 holidays; sick and vacation leave.  Opportunity to
