I agree with Messrs Mandeville-Gamble and Landis.  It may be
because we're the wrong side of the pond, but no-one has told us at
the Bodleian not to use <co1>-<co9> for varying levels of
description.  In fact it seems the whole raison d'etre of these
tags!  When I first started using EAD it seemed one of its positive
advantages that you could nest component levels and I am surprised
that doing so seems to be regarded as un-ARUP (where do you get
these acronyms?).  (Mutatis mutandis we use the tags in question in
the same way as the previous contributers on this topic.)
