Reference/Instruction Librarian

Rodney A. Briggs Library, at the University of Minnesota, Morris, is
accepting applications for the position of Reference/Instruction
Librarian.  Reporting to the Head of Public Services, this position
participates in providing quality reference service, planning and
presenting group instruction, developing print and electronic
instructional materials, conducting mediated online searches, and
developing the reference collection in specific subject areas.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: include an ALA accredited MLS, background
in reference services, demonstrated expertise in using the Internet
and electronic information applications, written and oral
communication skills and successful group presentation experience in
English, as well as an awareness of the philosophy and objectives of
a liberal arts college.  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: include an
educational background or experience in the humanities and a working
knowledge of Spanish.  STARTING DATE:  July 1, 1997.  Salary:
to $30,000 for 12 mo. renewable  appointment.  All qualified
individuals who are optimistic about the role of libraries in the
academic environment and who enthusiastically seek to integrate new
technologies to enhance and expand the role of public services in the
college library setting are encouraged to submit a complete
application which must be received by the deadline of April 11, 1997.
 A complete application includes a resume, the names, addresses, and
phone numbers of three people knowledgeable about the candidate's
professional qualifications, a photocopy of transcripts for all
degrees earned or anticipated to be earned by July 1, 1997, and a
cover letter elaborating on the candidate's qualifications and
philosophy of public service librarianship in the liberal arts
