CLEMSON UNIVERSITY is seeking
a creative and enthusiastic librarian with a strong public service
orientation to head the Gunnin Architectural Library.  This librarian
will provide reference services, online searching, bibliographic
instruction, and collection development for the disciplines of
architecture, construction science and management, city and regional
planning, landscape architecture, and visual arts.  Additional
responsibilities include staff supervision and training, monitoring
budgets, and participation in library committees.  Reports to the Dean
of Libraries.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Required:
ALA-accredited MLS. Two years professional library experience.
Undergraduate degree, graduate-level course work, or relevant
experience in architecture, art, or related fields.

Preferred:  Supervisory and/or management experience
as a professional librarian highly desired.  Reference and library
instruction experience in an architecture/art setting.  Proficiency in
searching electronic resources, including online, Internet, CD-ROM, and
OPAC.  Excellent communication skills.  Ability to work successfully in
a group environment and manage time efficiently.


SALARY & BENEFITS:   $34,000 minimum; negotiable depending upon
qualifications. Faculty status, 12-month tenure track position, SC,
TIAA-CREF, or other retirement plans, various medical plans, dental
plan. 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 12 paid holidays, and
liberal professional development leave.


LIBRARY:   Clemson University Libraries have a staff of 30
librarians and 68 support staff.  The Libraries are fully networked,
linking employees with electronic mail and calendar systems, campus
network, and the Internet. The Gunnin Architectural Library has over
28,000 volumes, 200 active serial titles, 90,000 slides, and 650
videotapes. Staff consists of the branch head, six support staff, plus
student assistants.  This branch library serves 640 undergraduate
students, 140 graduate students, and 70 faculty members within the
College of Architecture, Arts, and Humanities.


CAMPUS:  Clemson University, South Carolina's technologically
oriented land grant institution, has approximately 17,000 students and
is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 30 miles from
Greenville, SC and within 2 hours driving time of Charlotte, NC and
