The beta version of the EAD DTD is the current version. When it was released last September, it was agreed that no changes would be made to the DTD for a year in order to give archivists a chance to thoroughly test and experiment with EAD. That year is rapidly drawing to a close, however, and the SAA Committee on Archival Information Exchange EAD Working Group will soon be issuing a formal call for comments and suggestions for change. Watch this space! Since LC is the maintenance agency for EAD, the current version of the DTD will always be available for ftp from LC.
