I have been involved in mapping the EAD to ISADG which although this can be easily done there are three wrinkles in the tranisition which could be usefully ironed out at this stage. It is with ISAD(G) elements of description 3.1.4, 3.4.1 & 3.4 .4 which describe level of description, legal status, and language of material of the unit of description where the wrinkles occur. Using the EAD these three are dealt with as attributes of the <archdesc> element rather than being sub elements or elements of the <did>. They cannot be put in the preferred ISAD(G) order and it would be helpful to be able to recreate the original order of ISAD(G) using the EAD. It is also important to be able to have visible the element describing the level of the finding aid being described (eg, fond, series, item) which is not currently a default.
