Position Available - Electronic Services - Virginia

ELECTRONIC SERVICES COORDINATOR:
The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library is seeking
an enthusiastic and energetic individual to coordinate
electronic services at the University of Virginia.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Electronic Services Coordinator is a member of
the Information Services Department and manages all
database services, including administrative functions
of the Ovid system.  Oversees updating, technical
support, troubleshooting, upgrades, and
staff training for library information systems and manages
the public interface for a Web-based (SIRSI) online
catalog. Trains new staff in online searching, oversees
mediated search services, monitors contracts with database
vendors. Participates in University-wide networking
projects and collaborates in electronic collection
development and resource sharing initiatives.  Works with
systems staff to enhance and maintain Information Services
computer equipment as well as public reference
workstations. Investigates trends in systems and software;
identifies and incorporates new systems when applicable.

Provides reference services, online searching,
class instruction, and consultation services for
library-supported software programs and systems.
Contributes to the profession through publication or
service, participates on Library and University committees,
maintains knowledge of trends in electronic services.

SCREENING CRITERIA:
Required:  ALA-accredited MLS; one-year's experience
in a health sciences setting, providing information and
electronic services.  Public service and reference desk
experience.  Demonstrated experience and training in online
systems and software applicable to the health sciences
environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.  Ability to manage multiple priorities in a
changing environment.  Commitment to service and teamwork.

Preferred:  Membership in the Medical Library Association
Academy of Health Information Professionals.  Advanced
knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems.
Experience with Web-based database applications.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary minimum $34,000.  Benefits include general
faculty rank (non tenure track), 22 vacation days per year,
11 paid holidays, sick and disability leave, health and
dental insurance, retirement contribution to TIAA/CREF or
other available programs, as well as generous moving,
travel, and staff development budgets.  Position available
