                POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT







ACQUISITIONS -- TECHNICAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN


The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, an honors university serving
10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, has recently invested in a new
library building featuring extensive technological development and online
resources (see www.umbc.edu).  We now seek a Technical Services Librarian
to manage monographic acquisitions, supervise staff and student
assistants, participate in Technical Services management, provide
leadership in effective use of online systems and electronic resources,
and monitor and report on materials budgets.

Salary $32,000 to $ 37,500 depending on qualifications.  Attractive
benefits.

Qualifications: An ALA-accredited MLS and at least one year professional
technical services experience are required.  Acquisitions and supervisory
experience preferred.  Experience in an academic library using an
integrated information management system highly desired.    Must
demonstrate understanding of publishing and acquisitions issues, effective
communication skills, and ability to organize and complete projects.
