Standardized  search and retrieval capabilities are a fundamental goa
and feature of EAD.  I fyou go to the EAD home page you will find links
to a number of projects that feature searching across finding aids
created by different institutions.  This would not be possible without
the standardized structure that EAD brings to this process.
