There has been some discussion on the list as to the proper procedures for coding PCC records for law materials. The Standing Committee on Standards has prepared the following guidelines which will be added to the classification FAQ already posted on the PCC website. Please feel free to contact me anyone have questions. --Joan Schuitema Chair, Standing Committee on Standards ===================== If a PCC library using a PCC standard that calls for a classification number catalogs a work on a topic that is not yet represented in the classification system it uses, e.g., religious law in the case of Library of Congress Classification, the PCC library may nevertheless designate the record a PCC record even though it necessarily lacks the requied classification number. Optionally, the libary may input the local number it uses in a local call number field. Joan Schuitema Music Technical Services Librarian Northwestern University Library 1935 Sheridan Rd.
