The Cataloging Directorate will be giving two presentations during this time. They will be: BeOnline: A Demonstration June 28, 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. BeOnline is the Library of Congress project to make electronic resources in the fields of business and economics on other World Wide Web sites accessible via the Library of Congress Web site. David Williamson, cataloging automation specialist, will demonstrate BeOnline automation initiatives. Allene Hayes, BeOnline project leader, and Regina Reynolds, project member, will discuss its use for business and economics collection development and the issues arising from remote access to external resources and the cataloging of electronic resources. David Williamson, cataloging automation specialist, and Robert August, automated operations coordinator, will demonstrate the Library of Congress project encoding tables of contents with a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) wrapper, using scanning and optical character recognition techniques and hotlinking the 856 field in the bibliographic record to the table of contents by a totally automated process.
