Hi Fellows:

Greetings to all of you, and introductions to the class of 1997.

Remember Rosemary Fry Plakas, LC curator in the Rare Books and Special
Collections division? Well, she will be participating in a workshop,
showcasing some of the women's suffrage notebooks and other artifacts
through a slide presentation on August 20th, in Seneca Falls, NY.

Rosemary's presentation will take place during the week of the
150th anniversary of the first Women's Rights Convention held there in
1848. Some of the other workshops discuss American History on the web,
class, culture and gender issues and other subjects that you may find
appropriate for the classroom.

For more information regarding this conference and celebration, please
check the National Park Service website at: The
fee to attend this conference is minimal. Those of you that live within
driving distance may choose to attend. It appears as if this conference
will be very worthwhile.

        Take care,
