The simplest thing to do is download the lgc file  form the SAA EAD
Roundtable site at

http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/ead/

With regard to Softquad and XML- their new software XMetal is due out in
March.  Appears to be a lot like Author/Editor but generates xml
