To: Independent NACO libraries Subject: Tenth Series Institute The Program for Cooperative Cataloging will present the tenth Series Institute for NACO libraries March 10-12, 1999 at LC. Judy Kuhagen, Senior Policy Specialist in the Cataloging Policy and Support Office, will be the instructor for the course, which has received excellent reviews from all who have attended. The Institute is open to all independent NACO librarians who have not yet been trained in series contribution. This course will focus on the relevant chapters of AACR2R, the LCRIs, the US MARC Authority Format, and searching techniques for series. At the end of the course, participants will be able to contribute series authority records to the National Authority File. In addition, participants are encouraged to train colleagues in their home institutions to contribute SARs. Sessions run all day Wednesday-Friday. If you come from a distance, you may wish to arrive a day early. Staying until Sunday often gives you a lower airfare. There is no charge for the course itself, but participants will be responsible for their own transportation, housing, and meals. If you are interested in participating in this training session, please contact Carolyn Sturtevant at the email address below by Friday, February 5. Expressions of interest will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. For more information about this training, please contact your NACO liaison on the Coop Team.
