This notice is being sent to numerous listservs. Please pardon multiple postings. MASSLegacy: Coalition of Advocates to Preserve our Past (MASSLegacy:CAPP) is a new non-profit organization being formed to promote and advocate for the preservation of the documentary history of the people of Massachusetts. Membership will be open to any and all individuals and organizations having an interest in the historical record of Massachusetts. The new organization will serve as an umbrella group so that all persons and organizations -- historical societies, genealogical societies, municipal bodies, libraries, etc., as well as individuals -- can speak with a unified voice. Our goals are to increase public awareness of the value of the historical record, to share information and databases, and to advocate for funding for preservation, access, and processing. Our membership drive will begin at the Historical Records Forum, to be held in Worcester May 11. For further information on the Forum, visit the MHRAB website at http://www.state.ma.us/sec/arc/arcaac/aacintro.htm At this time we are asking for people from all parts of Massachusetts to assist the representatives in developing the organization during its formative period.
