NLS has been asked to publicize a vacancy at the North
Dakota State Library. The vacancy announcement follows:

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:Librarian, Services for the Disabled
Physically Handicapped

SALARY RANGE:   $21,528 - $35,880 per year, DOE; complete
state benefits. Includes 9.12% paid retirement and Blue
Cross/Blue Shield health insurance family premium paid.

SUMMARY OF WORK:   Coordinate and deliver talking book,
radio reading, and recording services for 2,500 North Dakota
patrons.  Responsible for collection development of talking
books.  Insure compliance to ALA and national Library
Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS)
regulations.  Supervise 4 full-time employees.  Provide
outreach services and promote and publicize agency services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Must have an ALA-accredited MLS
degree.  Excellent communication and organization skills;
ability to learn specialized software; ability to travel
independently.  New graduates will be considered.

NORTH DAKOTA has the lowest violent crime rate and the
lowest individual income tax in the nation; is 2nd in the
nation in overall child well-being; and has the nation's
lowest cost for auto insurance (1993).  Internet access is
available to 85% of ND citizens and fiber optics blanket the
state (4,600 miles).  Bismarck  is served by two colleges,
the regional medical centers, and commercial airlines.
